Samba Pa Ti was built by Cookson Boats in 2006, being a sistership to Warpath (BP170). Owner John Kilroy Jr had plenty of success with this boat, winning the 2007 Rolex Big Boat Series and the 2009 Transpac Race.

Samba Pa Ti became the smallest sailboat in 103 years of Transpac history to take line honors and be the first to finish on corrected time, making them the fifth team ever to have a clean sweep in the Transpac.
